Scredington’s Parent and Toddler group began in August 2003 when a small group of parents and their children started meeting at the village hall on a Friday morning. Since then it has grown and into a regular weekly group that has seen not only families from Scredington attend but toddlers from as far away as Bourne.
All pre-school children and their parents, grandparents, or whoever is babysitting, are welcome and the group runs in the main hall at Scredington Community Centre from 09:30 to 11:30 every Friday except school holidays. There is no need to book – just turn up.
There is a small cover charge of £1 each and every child gets a drink of juice whilst every adult can have a cup of tea or coffee and everyone gets biscuits. Sean aged 3 is one of my regular attendees and as my timekeeper, is always managing to come to me at 10:15 to remind me that it’s juice and biscuit time.
There is a large selection of toys for all the children and even the adults to play with and during the year we have several events for all the children to take part in including an Easter Egg hunt and a teddy bears’ picnic. We have also had visits from the Sleaford Sure Start and Miniyooz children’s clothing.
Over the years it has been a pleasure to watch the toddlers from the group grow up and move on, some of them are now teenagers! So if you are at a loose end on a Friday morning and want to talk to other parents whilst the children burn off some energy then come along.
